Do they make higher bars for the s model? I'd like to know too. There seems to be plenty of options for the naked SV, but I've never seen higher risers for the SVS. I don't suppose you could make them too much higher without interfering with the fairing.  John

I was playing with Images.google.com the other day and keyed in Sv650. Got some interesting results including a industrial vacuum cleaner for sale in Australia. This pic is of an SV650 fitted with a external ring disk (probably got the name wrong). The shot isn't the best quality but it got my interest. I have wanted a motorcycle for years. I was talking to a co-worker and found out he owns a 2000 Ducati ST2, which he loves. When I went to look at them a got sticker shock (sorry mike, what's a sticker shock, Is this the price sticker?). He then told me about SV650s. I tried one out and have never looked back. I bought a Blue 2001 SV650s that day (The blue ones are faster :-). I am shocked at the similarities between the SV650s and the Ducati. They have the same seating position, same handle bar height, and must have very close acceleration specs (the japanese have never been shy about copying). He never pulls away from me. We have raced many times and we stay neck to neck all the way up to 100mph. I showed my bike to a friend and he decides to buy a Red 2001 SV650s this summer as well (I used to have a friend with a red SV, but he sold out to Honda). With the winter coming up I want to start working on the bike. I want to add a lower fairing to it. Do you know where I would be able to buy one? I live in Philadelphia, PA and have been looking for a place that sells them with no luck. I included some pictures of the two SV650s's.(Mail order probably, have a rake through this site with the search tool, or maybe another of our stateside reader can suggest a source..I'm glad you guys in the States finally got the SVS, at least you now have the option buying fairing lowers)

Suzuki GB have after 8 months decided to refund the money I paid for water in the carbs and replace the tank due to rust were the water had laid with the fuel, they also state that all dealers are aware of this problem and are correcting the bikes. I am waiting to see if they will replace the carbs as they have slight corrosion in them. Let us know how you get on..John

I've made some changes to the main frames page. Whilst these worked fine on my local PC, they looked completely corrupted after upload to the server. I spent a lot of time messing around trying to work out why. I did solve the problem eventually and some of you may suffer from the same problem. When displaying the site after upload, I simply hit the link on the link toolbar in IE5. After a lot of messing I noticed that the corruption did not occur if I typed the URL manually. I then hit the link button and back came the corrupted page. I deleted the link, manually selected the url and re-saved the link all was now okay. This happened on both my home and work PC. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. As for the cause...my suspicions lie with a local cached copy of the site that the link may have referred to but the manual method doesn't. John

Could somone please help me if they have fitted a universal scotoiler (is this the standard scotoiler) and tell me where and how they mounted the dispenser unit ? Any sugestions would be most welcome. (Mine was original mounted behind the left hand side panel as there is a couple of unused screw holes on the rear of the frame. I then moved it up onto the subframe behind the bodywork just inside where the seatlock resides. The reason for this was, there is another very convenient screw hole already provided, no heat from the exhaust to bugger up the flow rate settings, you can adjust or top up the oiler simply by popping off the rear seat. You will find plenty of info on the scotoiler and how to fit one in the archives, use the site search tool or click in FAQ and How to link on the left hand frame) 

Hi John here's a pic of my new 2001 SVS. Sorry mate but "Satanic" Black really ROCKS!!!  (Is Satanic black the officially listed Suzuki colour ;-) John) Had the official Suzuki hugger fitted by the dealer Motorcycle Mart over in Kidderminster it's a superb colour match, metallic you know! Also went for a fender extenda and Magic Mushrooms. I've been doing most of the running in mileage through Bridgenorth onto Shrewsbury and back. Will be having semi-synth at first service this week. Hope to have a run over to Welshpool before the month is out, might see you around? (good chance you will, probably with a VFR desperately trying to keep up.. John) Are any rideouts planned for North Wales in the near future? (Nothing planned. Kev and I often blast up to the Ponderosa cafe on Horseshoe pass. I might make that the venue for next years get together.. John) Ps Flat 4's & V twins Rule.

Just thought you may be interested in this info..

Went to the South West Bike Show in Exeter over the bank holiday weekend and found that they had a sprint strip setup with timing lights etc,  thought it would be interesting to see if my 2000 SV650S would get anywhere near the big boys on a sprint...

Distance was 1/16th of a mile on a slight incline with timing lights at varying stages from start to end of sprint track.

I done 4 runs before the clutch started dragging slightly and as i had to ride home thought i best stop.

Run 1 : 5.19 seconds, speed = 72Mph
Run 2 : 5.16 seconds, speed = 72Mph
Run 3 : 5.20 seconds, speed = 72Mph
Run 4 : 5.22 seconds, speed = 71Mph

As you can see its very close, so i would presume thats its as fast as i could go.

The fastest run on the day was a 01 GSXR1000 that done 4.4 seconds and 86Mph. My run was faster than a Aprillia RSV Mille, because the guy just couldn't get off the line without wheelying all the way along the track :)

PS: While i was there i met a guy who said something about a advance/retard on the SV between first and second gear (pink wire on the CDI unit) that drops the power in second gear...have you heard about this at all??

PPS: spec of bike....2000 SV650S, Remus Grand Prix Can, Dynojet filter and carb kit, 1 tooth larger rear sprocket
