Jan 28th - The Tale of Two Bar Risers I was browsing eBay the other day looking for SV650 bits and came across a 2004 SV much like my own. The blurb said it was fitted with Accossata bar risers and my interested was engaged, so I went for a Google and came across this; Seem like good value and I'm very tempted. Click here for details. The next day I get an email from a regular correspondent Dave Loubser. He's just fitted some risers from Topyoke and here's his story; Hi John,
I have not e mailed you in a while and thought I might update you on my Topyokes conversion that I have just completed. I ordered the kit on line and it was delivered just before Christmas, minus the extended throttle cables! According to Topyokes, their supplier had let them down and so I had to wait until mid January to complete the conversion. While replacing the brake hoses I also discovered that they had given me the incorrect master cylinder banjo bolt. Apparently Suzuki use two different suppliers for the master cylinders and they use very different threads (shakes head in disbelief-Ed). At least the brake calliper fittings were correct. I have attached some before and after pictures for your info. I had to drill out the ignition switch mounting bolts as they are special bolts and apparently you cannot get a spline key for them from Suzuki (you can buy special security bits from a lot of online toolshops for this, I have this set that I bought locally-Ed). This meant that I had to use longer stainless steel mounting bolts for the switch to ensure that the mechanism lined up with the lock port on the steering head. I had to make a minor modification to the brake reservoir mounting as the new Renthal bars did not have a mounting for it. The kit I bought came to £250.00 and included a new cnc machined top yoke, the Renthal Bars, Hell brake lines and longer throttle cables. Took the bike for a ride yesterday afternoon and am very pleased with the new riding position. I now sit further back on the saddle on the more comfortable part and overall comfort and visibility are vastly improved. The nice thing about these is that they are adjustable fore and aft and I have already made 2 adjustments for comfort. Rearward view is now a bit of an issue (have to lift my left arm up to see behind me) and I will be looking to see if I can find some longer rear view mirrors.
Regards, Dave Loubser Before Photos After photos Mods |

Jan 22nd - Moto-Tech added to
Services and Offers Page Hi All, it's a bit later to wish you happy new year but I've said it now. Nothing much to report on the biking front other than I took the SV for a quick spin last week in-between the cold snaps. Had a few issues getting her started as the battery in on it's last legs, but she ran well enough (though I felt very rusty) As the title suggests I've added another dealer to the services and offers page, this time Moto-Tech in Northern Ireland. No special offers for this one but Brian was kind enough to make a donation to the site. Take a look, I quite fancy a 90bhp SV. John |

Dec 29th - AR2013 Hi All, hope you had a fun and safe Christmas. As most of the forum users will already know, the winning bid for the Annual Rideout went to Thunderace and his team and will be based around Guildford. I've updated the left hand menu with an AR2013 button and this will point people to the info they need. Sounds a long way off but it will come round quicker than you think. John |

Dec 15th Season Greetings Just a quick word to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas for 2012. As usual I'm running behind in preparations, not helped by having a builder in for the last two weeks. Hope you're doing better. The closing date for the AR2013 nominations has now closed. Choosing the successful entry should be easy, as we only had the one bid, but it's a good one. More details on that soon. So have a great break, whatever you do and whoever you're doing it with. John
