May 26 - Yellow Peril
Hi John and greetings from Canada! I noticed you didn't have many yellow k4's in your gallery so I'm sending you pics of mine. I made some additions to my bike since i purchased it in the form of aftermarket headlamp bulbs and the Suzuki fender eliminator, but of course they wont be my last. (do they still stick those silly low wattage bulbs in the new SV?) Cheers! -Chris G |

May 26 - Clean enough?
Dear John, One or two of my sv colleagues have commented about my lack of cleaning effort! Please can you post the attached photo showing a nice clean silver sv650k2 in my back garden after a little bit of effort from me this afternoon!!!! I'm sure Elmerfud will be pleased!!! It was great to meet up with the Pennine Massive today at The Bridge - the weather was good and there were plenty of bikes (not just sv's) to look at! I've also attached a photo showing some the gang! All the best Trog |

May 22 - Blowing Rock
For me, getting a motorcycle was not even a top ten item in my wish list last year. However, riding my friend's (seen in the photo) Honda CBR 929 RR changed all that for me. At first, I rode so cautiously that I would often pull over to let a line of cars pass me. Imagine that on a CBR that does 70 MPH in the first gear! (Same here, although it was 30 odd years ago, hadn't even thought about a bike until a friend brought his Raleigh Runabout around to my house, alright it's not a Fireblade the effect on me was just the same!) Anyhow, that was then, this is now. That Sunday, we rode the 90 miles to Blowing Rock (Appalachian foothills) in about an hour. At one point, I topped out at 110 MPH and Mike passed me like I was standing still. Now, friends are making comparisons to "The Fast and the Furious". Haven't seen it but my recent obsession with riding is decidedly midlife in nature. The good news is, for the most part, Mike has taught me how to ride safely and in control. No need to show anyone my drain plug. Instead, my next bike related purchase will be a Yoshimura slip on so that other motorists can hear me. Best wishes, David Gersfeld |

May 17 - Goodbyeee!
Hi John I just wanted to say thanks for the site over the last year, its been a great source of information as well as inspiration. I have made quite a few mods on my K3 over the last year but unfortunately I've grown out of my baby, its not enough any more and I've traded it in. I'd loved to have stayed with a twin but the choice isn't huge and there are so many fours out there that are very tempting and very capable and I've gone for the CBR RR. I also wanted to say keep up the good work with the site and to wish everyone the best. Last thing, everyone that saw my SV always said how nice it was so if anyone is interested in a bike that's been really looked after, it will be up for sale in Street Machine in Aylesbury. All the best. Andy Glad to help, but you'll be back, a V-twin never lets you leave for long. |

May 14 - 04 SVS
Hi John, Found the site the other month just after I bought my SV650S K4. Was looking for some good links and found your site invaluable. I'll keep popping back for more info. Here's a few pictures of my bike. Hope to do some mods later on in the year but still skint after buying and insuring it. Keep up the good work. PS: Anyone got any pictures of the skidmarx under tray for the SV. Cheers Calvin |

May 14 - Bonjour
My name is Christian Normandie france my svs 650
I don't usually bother posting such vague emails. In this case I thought you might like to see the faring lowers on this machine. I've only seen these additional lights in belly pans. I have written back to Christian asking for more detail.

May 14 - Centerstand Available
John, A quick note for anyone who's been after a centrestand for the new K3 SV650 like me, there is now one available from www.motohaus.com for £111 plus a fiver delivery. I have ordered one and it should arrive today, I will of course send in some pictures when its fitted at the weekend (I hope). I say hope as my SV broke down last Sunday and is currently sat at my dealers after an AA recovery awaiting diagnosis. Although disappointed with the breakdown on a 6 month old bike, Suzuki Assistance are first class in their recovery service, thank goodness for the warranty. Regards Kieran Hewett |

May 4 - Predator
Hi John, looking forward to the rideout, if the weather is anything like this weekend it will be a brilliant weekend. I have been trying to organise some parking spaces with the council for parking in Matlock. Have you any idea how many bikes will turn up. (sorry no idea, it's usually about 30+. I should have put a register on the rideout page, but I thought the forum topic would suffice) I have told the council it is a national bike club and about 30-50 bikes are expected. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will reserve some spaces. I have been trying to post pictures of my new helmet but failed miserably i wonder if you can help. I have e-mailed you a pic. See you soon CHOG |

May 4 - My Bike
Hello John If you remember I had a bit of a prang last October, The attached photos are what happens when you T-Bone a Ford saloon car at speed. The great thing is that people from this site have stripped the bike for me and put all the good bits in neat labeled bags in my shed ready for sale on Ebay. They also catalogued and photographed them all to make it easier for me. What a great bunch of chaps Mark (Rictus) and the Soho gang are. Rob Suchley <RobertCSuchley#aol.com> I do unfortunately. I used to live close by to the A13 when I was a kid, so I could visualise the road when the accident was explained to me. I agree with your comments on Mark and the Soho gang, top blokes! Hope you make a fast recovery. John |

May 1 More from JH (see last
month)
Hey John, Here are some updated picture of my bike. I've made some more modifications. This is my SV650 K3. I've made some cool modifications. I've add a M4 high mount full system with the power commander III usb. The bike performs superbly with these mods. I've also added a bikini fairing by Suzuki. It keeps some wind off your chest and doesn't clutter up the bike's look. I've added the radiator covers and have gotten rid of the rear fender. I've added a belly pan and a solo tail by Suzuki. I still have a couple mods to make before the bike is complete. I love the response and handling from the bike. I ride the bike daily and get many compliments on it. |

May 1 - Suzuki Performance
School
Hi John, Thought I'd just drop you a line or to on what I've been up to this weekend. Myself and Richard (Topcat) have just come back from a morning at the Suzuki Performance Riding School (www.raceschool.net) . It was a great experience, based at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, it was well worth the money. You get about 60 minutes on the track, riding one of their GSX-R600's with race fairing etc, which was nice for me as I own one of these machines. After about 35 minutes in the briefing room we headed out to the pits. A great deal of emphasis is put on body position and moving your body around the bike. After another 5 minutes or so of safety talk from the "Pits Manager" we were organised into groups of 3, and allocated an instructor. We did a couple of sighting laps and then he started to up the pace. Mallory is a great circuit to learn on, 2 chicanes, a hairpin and a long multi-apex right hander (Gerrards). After a few laps we came in and the instructor advised us on how we were doing. I was having a problem coming out of the hairpin; we were instructed to exit the hairpin in 2nd, change up to 3rd to enter the "bus stop" (chicane) in 3rd. As I ride a K4 GSX-R600 I found this too slow for 3rd, but after a chat with my instructor I realised that I was lacking drive in 2nd, and by being in 3rd I could get more drive out of the chicane and onto the start/finish straight. This improved so much that at one point we went down the straight in 5th, I clicked down 1 as I enetered Gerrards and actually had it on the limiter on the exit. Although the speedo's are covered up, I know this is well in excess of 115mph if my bike is anything to go by. So, what did I get out of it ? Well I know that I can definitely corner better than before and have more confidence when approaching them. If I go in a bit too hot, I know I can back off the gas and tighten my line, knowing that I will still maintain exit speed. It was an excellent day, and we took a long and scenic route back to West London, allowing us to put a few of our new found skills into practice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to raise their confidence when cornering, or someone who is worried about doing a track day for the first time, it's a good way of learning what track based riding is about. Steve Sounds like a great experience. It's much better to find out just what you bike is capable of on a track. I know what you mean about positioning your body. On the SV1000 MCN day, I got told my style was all wrong, too static and too stiff. It seemed awkward at first to adapt, but now I'm used to it and I certainly feel smoother. |

May 1
Is it May already! I don't seem to have really got into the biking year yet. When I get the time to take the bike for a spin, the weather turns sour. The couple of good weekends at Easter were nice but once again I was busy doing other stuff. Maybe I'll get out this weekend, although the weather isn't looking too hopeful. On top of this the bike is looking like it's been pulled out of a canal. The crappy weather and lack of time has led to my poor baby looking pretty filthy. Do I ride or clean? I had a short break with the family at Easter. We visited the New Forest and of course I had to drop into Beaulieu. I can't resist any car museum. They had a few bikes include a Benelli Sei and an original Honda CB750. Worth a visit. Apparently the Coventry Transport Museum is worth a visit too, something for later in the year maybe. Keep the shiny side up! John |
